Established in 1979, the Janice Cummins Petite Ecole is a unique program for children between the ages of 4 and 12.  

Framed by original songs, games, poetry, role-playing, drawing exercises, movement and group activities, Janice Cummins' method - eclectic in approach and active in nature - is rooted in the intuitive learning of sentence structure.

Her classes are not playgroups designed to teach a smattering of French in a few weeks; rather, at the Janice Cummins Petite Ecole, conversational French courses are offered annually from September to June in a 5 year developmental sequence and culminate with a 6th year of formal introduction to reading and writing.

All classes are limited in size and meet once per week after school for fifty minutes and are taught exclusively by Madame Cummins.

Each lesson is reinforced by a corresponding audio recording produced by Madame Cummins.  Parents are an integral part of the learning process in that they spend the last five minutes of class with Madame Cummins when she explains the grammatical dynamics underlying each lesson.

Janice Cummins Petite Ecole is a unique school for the teaching of French.  Boasting an established national and international reputation, the school has been inspected and endorsed by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, New York, NY. 

Courses Offered

1.  French for the pre-school child (4 year old) and kindergartener (5 year old)
2.  French for the child in elementary school (6-12 year old)
3.  Private tutoring available upon request for children and teens
